  • The Mad Hatter’s “Futterwacken” Dance!
Posted on Sunday, March 21st, 2010 in Pop Culture Costumes – Comments: (0)
The new Alice in Wonderland movie was released in early March 2010. Alice in Wonderland is a fantasy adventure film directed by Tim Burton and written by Linda Woolverton.I heard the movie was great, although a little dark in nature. My nine year old son and I went to see the movie and had a great time. When I asked my son what his favorite Mad Hatter part of the movie was, he stated it was the “Futterwacken” dance. The Mad Hatter performs this very funky, leg wiggly, body moving dance, after Alice slays the Jabberwocky. I have to say it was pretty funny.

  • The Santa Suit Costume
Posted on Saturday, November 7th, 2009 in Christmas Season – Comments: (0)
The Santa Suit is the most popular Christmas time costume. It is worn by all of “Santa’s Helpers” in  the malls, and at one time those ringing the bells for the Salvation Army all wore a Santa outfit. A few other places you may see someone dressed as Jolly ole Saint Nick would be in plays at Christmas time, in a church program, at Christmas party’s, and lets not forget those who wear Santa’s colors for their children on Christmas Eve. Anytime this costume is warn, it tends to draw people young and old, to the person wearing it. So be sure to set a very good example while wearing the most popular costume at Christmas time the Santa Costume.

  • Amazing Costume Ideas
Posted on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 in Costumes Ideas – Comments: (0)
Getting awsome and amazing costume ideas can be great fun. You can be any thing you want to be when it comes to Halloween or costume parties. I love getting my ideas from Hollywood. The movies, movie stars, and pop stars are all great idea areas. A great example would be the “Wizard of Oz”, there are so many characters to choose from in this movie. You have Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion, Glinda the good Witch, the Wicked Witch of the West, her minion Monkeys, and lets not forget Munchkin Land with all the Munchkins. You could pick any one of these as a single costume or go as a group. It would definitely be a crowd pleaser. I’ve even seen a new costume line called “The Wicked of Oz” if you like the evil/scary aspect of costumes. Give it a try and come up with your amazing costume idea.
  • Yoda Dog Halloween Costume
Posted on Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 in Dog Outfits – Comments: (0)
One of my all time favorite movies is “Star Wars” and Yoda one of the movies most intellegent and delightful characters. This is one of the reasons why this year I will be dressing my pet dog Sasha in the Yoda dog halloween costumes. She kind of even reminds me of Yoda when she speaks her doggie talk. The costume itself includes a headpeice with ears and a jumpsuit with arms. She didn’t like last years costume but she seems to enjoy the attention she’s getting in this one. Our Sasha so loves to walk around with our youngest son on Halloween trick or treating. I’m sure she will get lots of comments this year along with my son who is going as Luke Skywalker!!
  • Renaissance Costumes

One of the more fun costumes I have seen is the Renaissance Era clothing. Have you noticed the popularity of Renaissance Faire Costumes? Renaissance Faire or Festivals are being held all over the United States and people are enjoying them more and more. This era had a people that were very colorful when it came to their clothing and this included the entire family. During these festivals you would be able to delight at jesters, and period musicians, watch village townspeople create merriment. Many even have marketplaces where you can wonder and delight at some of the countries finest artisans and craft folks as they create and sell their wares which might include candles, clothing, baskets, boots, silks, swords, toys and trinkets. Halloween is going to be here before we know it, the days are creeping toward October 31st. Why not try out a Renaissance Costumes, then wear the same outfit to a Renaissance Faire and get double the pleasure from your purchase.
  • Inexpensive Do It Yourself Costumes

Are you trying to figure out your last minute costume, but have a limited budget? Try these ideas on for size. Almost everyone has a white t-shirt , a pair of blue jeans, a flannel shirt and a pair of work boots. If not you’re sure to find them at your local Goodwill or Salvation Army Store. You will also need a colored knitted ski cap for this costume. Add a few fake scars to the face and arms, a full size bloody fake axe or chain saw prop and you have one scary lumber jack for only around $10 to $20.Or, try  a pair of coveralls a hockey mask and a prop machete or chainsaw and right away your Jason. How about a burlap or material sack with eye openings cut out, some cover-alls, and a prop weapon, for a great scary killer costume.Use whatever old clothes you already have, making sure to use fake teeth, fangs, scars, costume make-up or false blood, all are very inexpensive.

The Halloween costume and adults. Becoming an adult is not always what it’s cracked up to be. We are responsible for a lot of things when we are on our own and we end up feeling overwhelmed. But who says we can’t act like wild kids on rare occasions. The season of Halloween can be one of those special occasions. This is an unbelievable time of enjoyment and delight, anyone of any age even my Grandma Nellie,  can dress and act as they please. So better make sure to come up with a few great adult Halloween Costumes ideas before this October 31st. It is the best way to have a ball and get relief from the daily grind that makes life as an adult hard sometimes.
  • Couple Haloween Costumes
Posted on Saturday, August 15th, 2009 in Couple Costumes – Comments: (0)
My discovery of couple Haloween costumes. When I was in my teens I found I liked couples costumes the best. At this time I was deep into my first real boyfriend-girlfriend relationship and I was of course deeply in love. So what could be a better sign that we were a couple than to dress up in the same costumes for Halloween. Friends being friends they felt the need at the time to poke fun at us and thought it was a little bit juvenile, but change their opinions they did when they realized how many adults do dress in couple costumes as we did. So it was fun to see we weren’t the only couple that entered the next Haloween party in costumes for couples. Now every year we start to think about costume ideas all together long before the Halloween parties began.
